You find yourself in the Lucky 38 Penthouse discussing Securitron deployment a day after the second battle of the Dam. During a lull in the conversation, Yes Man pivots the topic.
“I didn’t want to interrupt you earlier because that would be rude, but I’ve been poking around in Mr. Houses files. There’s a lot in there and while most of it is still encrypted, I’ve found some stuff that might be of use to you! Probably the most important is a manual override for Mr. New Vegas!”
[That means he’s a computer]
“Yes, so convincing that he even had you fooled, and that’s hard to do! But if you can get control of the system, we’ll be able to make our own broadcasts through him! It seems a little weird, I know, but it’s for the good of the Mojave. And besides, how else are you going to get in contact with all of your friends?”
[Okay, I see your point. Where’s it at? And what am I supposed to when I find it?]
“That might be a little harder, it’s attached to the tippy-top of the Lucky 38. The top of this casino does act as a giant antenna, of course! You’ll have to scale up, rewire the unit, and scale back down all without falling to your death. Should be easy for a guy like you!”
Yes Man really has a way with words. Leaving him to is internal processes, you shed your extra equipment and change into the Vault 3 Utility Jumpsuit. After a few hours of poking around the cocktail lounge and the penthouse, you find a maintenance hatch in the former that allows you access to the outside.
After taking a healthy dose of Steady, you begin your climb up the side of the Lucky 38. Yes Man doesn’t fail to give you his patented smile as you pass the bay window of the penthouse.
Within an hour and a few more hits of Steady, you find yourself looking at a nondescript metal box close to the top of the antenna. You may have missed it entirely if it wasn’t for the golden microphone etched onto the front panel.
Taking that as a good a sign as any, you wrench the compartment open and find a surprisingly simple wiring job connected to a CPU. Taking a few minutes to learn the system, you quickly move a wire here, cut one here, tape that there and consider your job done.
It takes double the time to get back down, but you find yourself safe and sound in the Lucky 38 Penthouse by the end of the day.
“WOW, what a great job! No one could have climbed up there and rewired the system as good as you!”
[Did it work? I’m not going back up there.]
“Let me check…yes! Mr New Vegas is yours! If I’m not around for, you can type what you want directly into this console after pulling up its program, or write a rough outline of what you want said and the AI should be smart enough to spit out the patented Mr. New Vegas style.”
>Mr. New Vegas unlocked. With the most charismatic “man” in the wasteland on your side and the Lucky 38’s powerful transmitter, your words are his words and will be heard around the Mojave.
