The woman held the armor within her hands and focused upon it. Her eyes soon glowing with a golden witchfire. It was an odd glow that was pleasant to the eyes. Indeed Lucian could look into them for as long as he could live.
After who knows how much time had passed her eyes became the same crystals that he first saw her with, “You fought and killed the owner in an honor duel. Before his return to Morr the Knight had the greatest respect for you beyond even a knight to their sovereign. I can see why he would wish to have you adopted and Knighted.”
Lucian could only look upon the woman dumbfounded as she said those words. She gave a slight grin as she knew his kind, “He has given you his helm, his armor. You are no longer a mere Peasant, Sir Lucian, but a Knight who would have assumed the Household of the departed.”
“B-but who was he?” Lucian said as he looked upon the woman with little understanding.
She looked upon the helm and studied it. Her eyes looked upon the same injuries and scratches that the Knight had done to the armor. She then had it facing her and studied the broken ornament and plume.
“He is no simple Black Knight, not one who fights in a tournament as a tradition.” She answered while examining it with careful eyes, “It seems to be the work of both himself and the Necromancers. The armor has become black thanks to their magic and he must have broken his heraldry upon realizing the dishonor he was imparted with. Such as to not tarnish the fate of all his sons and daughters.”
“So… he gives me nothing?”
“He has made you a Black Knight. For Nobleman who dawn such armor they are beholden to none and whose honor only goes to the title of Black Knight. Normally one would only do this at a tournament, with the prize revealing the mighty Lord that the fighter has taken down.” She grew a small smile as if remembering the memory, “But to you he gives nothing more than the armor and the right to call yourself a Knight. You shall inherit no title or heraldry to inspire yourself from. While surely you will grow honor, I know the tales will speak of such armor first and foremost.”
