“Eee- Mom?”
“No, it’s me, Lorina.”
“Five more minutes,” As she says this she turns from you and forcefully pulls the covers over herself. You respond to this act of war by grabbing the covers with both hands and yanking them off the bed, sending a spinning Midori to the floor with a loud yelp.
“Disrespect of royalty will not be tolerated, see to it that it doesn’t happen again.”
“Bleh,” is the plebian and unsophisticated response she musters as she sees you above her as she pretends to play dead. Tounge rolling out and everything.
“Get up.”
“No, I’m dead, you killed me.”
“We’ve no time for foolishness, get up.”
“But I’m deeeeead, I can’t.”
“Get up.”
“Blah.”
“Now!”
“Ugh, fine. Help me,” She extends a hand upwards. You take it and pull her to her feet. She seems more fit than you thought she was, idly you wonder how a spare between the two of you would go.
“Everything all right up there? I heard a crash!” The inquisitor yells from the lower level of the house, he must have woken up through no fault of your own.
“Yes, we’re fine!” You call back.
“Not fine! The princess is bullying me!”
“Alright, sounds good!” The inquisitor calls back.
“Hey!” Midori goes ignored.
“Come on, Midori. Get ready for the day?”
“Hm? Midori? Whose Midori? You’re talking to Marie-”
>What’s her last name again? (Has to start with an S)“See? It even says so on this new card!” As she says this she reaches over to a bedside table to grab a card she shoves in your face.
“Inquisital Sanctioned Stranger? What’s this?”
“It means I’m free to live in this world without violating the law! Though look here!” At this, she points to smaller text on the card.
“Status: Inquisitor-in-training. So I take it you’re officially staying with us?”
Marie gives off a bright smile as she nods eagerly, “Yep, isn’t that so cool?!”
Yes, “I suppose. Now get ready, I shall meet you downstairs.”
As you head down you see the inquisitor leaving to “pick up breakfast” and are forced to idly twiddle your thumbs as you wait for Marie and him. You end up gazing out the window of the common room as you fidget with your messer’s hilt. It’s a nice day outside and the docks seem rather busy because of that.
Marie is the first to enter the common room, “What ended up happening last night?” You ask.
“Not much really, we ended up just talking to a bunch of old ladies and some old dudes. We got the basic gist of our mission though so that was cool!”
“And that is?”
