Besides, what a nightmare it would have been to try and just carry the entire thing with you all the way back to town? Dead as it is, the thing probably would have fallen apart anyway during the return travel.
<span class="mu-g">"-whuh? What's... dead thing?"</span>
Having picked apart what remained of the flower after the gnome device shredded it, your attempt to conserve what was left leaves only the stem to the roots. With both arms to a mighty hug, you're finally able to pull and uproot the whole thing... even though the flower is the appealing thing, who knows what the rest might be good for? In doing so you pull with the body of the plant, much of the vines and roots that ran through the whole clearing and disturb much of the area. What's made most evident by your removal of the plant though is what lay underneath.
An obviously overgrown skeleton, but preserved in place rather than the rest of the dead remains through the area which got mixed apart into pieces by the plant growth overtime. From this intact skeleton... maybe a human, it's from what looks like the belly area that the monster plant seems to have grown from to begin with. You've no way of knowing what could have happened, but whether alive or dead this person must have been magically imbued such that the plant sprouting from them would have been empowered overtime from their body.
Well whatever the case there's little left of them now apart from their skeleton, and some untarnished trinket around where their neck was, but the remains themselves are clearly magical. Even you, unable to notice magic can at least feel the powerful presence by way of your own magical resistance working against it. Whether for good or ill, or whether it was even intentional, the monster plant must have been a result of these remains. You're not exactly sure what to do with them, but leaving them here seems like a bad idea to you, simply inviting something else dangerous to grow in the flower's place.
You could take the remains with you, maybe to give to someone who would know what to do with them, or simply seek a "safe" burial for them back at town... or you could always just eat them, you are rather hungry and aren't worried about stomaching them with your magic resistance.
