>>5579417The week continues on without too much of interest happening. You make your way around the intake digging and helping with construction and at the same time catch sight of some of the other construction going on. The 1st Squad and some of the men from the intake are doing something on the inside of the walls. Probably working on that loading area Brynn mentioned. You see a couple of makeshift lookout towers pop up on the other side of the walls as well, making the whole place look a bit fort-like.
You get off a bit early at the end of the week, most of the work finished. There's still some finishing touches it looks like they're putting on but at the very least they don't need so many hands now. Quite the relief. Ignoring the physical tiredness, you'd gotten quite bored of the few repetitive tasks you were given. It was practically mindnumbing. Unavoidable, you guess - someone has to do it.
After eating your lunch you head over to Huo Mi's. You find her tending to her garden. She acknowledges you as you approach and then turns her attention back to it.
"Want to go hunting?"「Hunting? Sure. A day trip tomorrow?」She shakes her head. "No, I was thinking of a longer one. A week, roundabouts, probably stopping back here in the middle of it. Just hunting though."
「Oh. I have work.」"...I'm aware. It's up to you. But if you can get the time off, I'd take it. Given the deal with the first harvest and the bickering between Percival and Mei Gi, food prices could spike a bit this winter. Could be useful to have a bit of meat around."
That puts you a bit on edge.「Spike? How much?」She shrugs. "Dunno. I'm not stating a certainty, just saying they could. Not like we're on the path to starvation or anything, just figured it'd be best to stock up - could save me a bit of cash this winter."
Huo Mi turns around and grins at you. "And if you can't get the time off, you could always mention me - say that you're heading out to help. I'm sure they wouldn't turn down a little request from me."
>You think you'll pass. It's a bit early to take a week off of work. You could be needed.>Well, you'll ask and see if you can head out. All depends on what your boss says.>Saving money... that's certainly a tempting idea. You guess you'll say that you're needed to help Huo Mi and let her name grease the process. It doesn't feel great, but it's ultimately not a big deal.>Write-In
