“Two of your guys broke into my vault earlier, Silas. It’s only fair that you let me have a look around the place. Unless…you have something to hide?”
Begrudgingly, Silas shook his head and ordered some of his men to keep an eye on you while he and Rollo searched the place. You just hoped that Cat had been able to get the job done in time.
—----------
After that little opening incident, you had been roughly escorted to a private room where no less than four ninjas kept watch over you at all times. You received no information as to whether an intruder had been found, or if Rollo had discovered the planted evidence. As far as you knew, they were still searching the place. It wasn’t until a fifth ninja entered the room that everyone seemed to perk up. As it turned out, they were just as desperate for news as you were.
“What’s happening?” one of them asked. “Did they find anything?”
“Not yet. The boss wants this over with quickly, so he needs all hands on deck.” she said, glancing at you. “I’ll keep an eye on this one. It’s not like he’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.”
The others glanced at each other with uncertainty, then. They knew that today wasn’t a good day to piss off their boss, and they couldn’t afford to disobey direct orders. However, if these new, updated orders had indeed come from Silas himself, then they’d be disobeying him by following his previous orders.
Noticing that they were on the fence, this new ninja pushed harder for them to leave the room.
“Come on. The guy can barely walk. If nothing else, I’ll make sure that nothing happens to him until you can confirm things for yourself.”
Ultimately, the three of them decided that it would be best for them to send one of their number to check things out, and leave the other three here to accompany the fifth ninja.
Your head dipped and your shoulders sagged lower to the ground, as if you were about to fall over. Three guys left. Not bad. You would have to be quick, though.
After about a minute, the fifth ninja made her move.
“Anybody got a cigarette? I’ve been itching for one ever since we went on red alert. This piece of shit interrupted my break.” she said, pointing a finger at your back.
One of the other ninjas laughed and reached into his pocket to pull out a pack of expensive cigarettes. “Thought you quit.”
“And I have. Today doesn’t count.”
“Just make sure you’re not still wearing the patch. You get a little crazy when you use both.”
The ninja with the cigarette shrugged and stepped closer to the fifth. And then, the two of you put your plan into action.
