A few weeks after Courier’s talk with Boone, he hasn’t seen the moody sniper that entire time. He heard that the former NCR sharpshooter had been going into the ruins and hunting down stray bandits and raiders, but more or less keeping out of trouble.
Deciding to kill two birds with one stone, he sent a Securitron messenger out to find him. Within a day, Boone was back in the Lucky 38 much cleaner and not as pissy.
“I assume you need something important. I was out cleaning West Vegas.”
The Courier relays the last few weeks of combat to Boone, about how the Fiends are now trapped in their vault and their attempts to break out defeated.
As soon as the Courier mentioned Motor Runner, Boone perked up and was all too happy to head out to finish the Fiends off once and for all in New Vegas.
[Boone, feel free to hit up my personal armory. Take whatever you need and bring me Motor’s head.]
Wordlessly, he heads down the hall towards the Courier’s personal stash.
You don’t see him leave but know that Boone will get the job done no matter what. It’s almost a week later before he returns, a sack stained with blood attached to the hip.
“Here’s what happened. After perusing through your impressive arsenal, I realized that those robots of yours won’t work in the confined hallways of a vault. I took that fancy Stealth Suit of yours. The one that talks to you. I had the Securitrons stage a full out attack on the vault entrance. In the confusion, I managed to sneak through the attack and into the bowels of the vault.”
Boone takes the time to set the sack on the table in front of the Courier and takes off his beret.
“Honestly, you probably could have waited them out. They were in a bad way, food stores were just about done and half the fields in the vault were either dead or dying. Motor Runner was hiding down in what I imagine was a service area in lowest level of the vault.”
Boone reaches over to the sack and unties the knot, letting the sides fall ash unveiling Motor Runner’s severed head.
“There were a lot of civilians in that vault, Courier. Some NCR soldiers too. Seemed the fiends took their anger out on who the captives. Anyway, I killed his guards, took my time with Motor Runner and planted some of your C4 throughout the vault. Fiend problem is solved.”
The ever moody Boone gets up and leaves the Courier with Motor Runner’s severed head. Fiend problem solved.
