To Lucian the Barrow,
It has been one year since you have isolated yourself at the highest heights of Count Remon’s towers. Hiding yourself from my steel and brotherhood who have sworn an oath of vengeance for your transgressions.
I have heard your suggestions that I, Heir to Bordeleaux and Aquitaine, should divide the credit with you that I am properly owed. I stand by my tale, for your strike only came after my lance lifted the orc off its feet and drove its soul to whatever damned gods that it worships.
Your treaty I do admit gave me quite a laugh. For such a fact I have sent with the courier a bottle of wine that was made by this new estate.
In addition to that I give you an ultimatum. Face me in the courtyard of my manor or be chased across both Bretonnia and the Empire. I shall know when you leave and to where you shall be going, so do not think myself and my comrades will not track your trail.
- Prince Gillot of Bordeleaux
Lucian looked at the most recent letter that was sent to him by his rival, Prince Gillot of Bordeleaux. The text, no less immaculate as the first text that he received from the warrior-prince, clearly showed that the Prince still held the grudge like a Dwarf.
The last letter Lucian had sent was an olive branch. An attempt to bring reconciliation between the two of them before Lucian embarked upon his journey across both Bretonnia and likely the Empire.
At his side were three books, each a single one of its kind within the library of Remon. The Count was never much of a reader and only had such a collection because of his late grandfather. Lucian understood that the complete collection was split among heirs, and then split again. Thus these three books the Errant Knight had were the only ones that spoke in some knowledge of either Vampires or Nagash.
Nagash, first Necromancer and the creator of the Vampire plague that sat at the corners of the earth. From the books it spoke of a man who lived in the southern regions, in a place known as Araby where the dead walked among the sand dunes of their once glorious empire.
An empire that Nagash had extinguished underneath his lich-tainted hands.
