“Still, here I did not think I’d be waking up to helping the people who did not let us into their Karak.” The Dwarf admitted with a small chuckle.
“Does not seem like it bothers you much.” Lucian pointed out as he placed out a small candle, “Adok, can you light this?”
“I can.” The Dwarf said as he tapped his hand and blew a fire onto the candle, “It's just that I do not like our chances right now. Dwarfs were not made to be sleeping every day outside, and now we are looking at doing it for three days or more.”
“How did you get around Bretonnia?” Lucian asked as he left his seal above the fire.
“Empire Merchants.” Adok said simply, “I traded with the umgi three master crafted swords by my own hands and they thought it enough to give me transit to Bastonne. I was actually hoping we would make it to Albion but the raiders kept everyone from goin’ that way.”
“Doesn’t that mean we need to deal with that?” Lucian asked as he pressed the warmed seal onto the wax, melting it into his heraldry.
“Who knows, but this is the closest we are going to get to Albion without a little faith.” The Dwarf admitted, “Your god’s one for Omens, right? Maybe he will get us a way over there that I could not find. Anyways, with the merchants they paid for all my lodgings and get me in the court of the Duke. With the war right after my services were well welcomed.”
“Well lets see what happens.” Lucian said as he tapped the bag of money on his belt, “I only have so much gold, and there are a lot of us. If we are in town the Kroxigor might take a bounty just to be allowed into the city if we need him.”
“He’s a monster, just like a minotaur. I wouldn't blame the Umgi for being suspicious of him.” Adok said as he looked down at the wax sealed message, “What you going to do with that?”
“Get it sent.” Lucian said as he waved over one of the Peasants. Just like all the rest this one was covered in warts and it looked to Lucian that one of his eyes were blind. Yet he was both foolish and brave enough to stick around even against Lucian’s orders. So he decided to use him.
Handing the letter to the Peasant, Lucian gave his instructions, “Get this to Baron Budapest and get back as soon as you can. Make it known to him that I await him at this very spot.”
The two of them watched as the peasant fled. Lucian wondered if the poor fool would live, for he wondered if this man coming was honorable enough to keep the messenger alive.
