You dig through your inventory for that old heater you got way back when for the I-Corp mission. "Set this up real quick. I got to call someone.
Casey and Ashley move in to set up the old hunk of junk while, for your part, you pull out the old trusty RADIO you got back in I-Corp as well.
You pop it on top of one of the thicker walls of wax inside the hallway. It takes you a moment to tune it but...
>112!!! SPECIAL REWARD!
"I knew I'd get this signal sooner than later," A tired yet professional voice croaks over the line. Ah, Alexis, long time no see. "The moment we found that radio I knew. You might've caught me at a bad time."
"Is something the matter, Alexis?" A deep yet familiar voice crackles over the radio.
"It's just a friend of mine. Nicole, this is <span class="mu-s">Leoht Maus.</span> A CEO. Of a whole company." You can hear the anxiety in her voice; She does NOT want to mess this up.
Your blood goes cold. You recognize that name! That's the unknown CEO who pestered you like a day or so ago!
Vincent's the only one who seems to react to that name. His eyes widen like dinnerplates but he holds his tongue for now. "That so, huh?" <<span class="mu-b">"The spooks would blabber about this fuck all the time. Thank god my Office never had to deal with him."</span>>
"I see you have some friends. On a mission?" Leoht asks. "It's fine. Alexis can talk to her friends for a bit." Best to get to the point.
"Salutations!" "Oh god it's Casey." "Nicole wishes to ask about a VILE AND EVIL organization!"
"Yeah. Ever heard about the OCEP?"
The connection nearly breaks the moment you say those forbidden letters yet, thankfully, it stabilizes before it could fully terminate.
"The OCEP? I've heard of those guys before, yeah, hard to really miss them. It stands for the <span class="mu-b">Organization for Containing Extraordinary Phenomenon.</span>"
"Huh." Ashley leans against the radio. "What, so they're like D-Company and P-Company?"
"They're pretending they're like those two corporations, yes. For all intents and purposes, though, if you look at the paperwork...they don't exist."
"Indeed." Leoht chimes in. "They simply appeared one day somewhere down in District 16 about a day ago. Yet it was like they were always here."
"Does the number '867-5309' tie to anything? Anyone?"
The line goes dead for a moment but you soon realize it's not because you lost connection. Alexis is giggling like a dumbass now. "Nicole. That's from an old world song. That number can't be used to call anyone."
"Or maybe it does. Maybe you should call it." Leoht chimes in. "Things seem to just...change around the OCEP. Things that should not work, well, work. As long as they believe it does."
"There's really just not a lot of information about it. Even our mutual enemy leaves behind more of a trail than them." You can tell Alexis feels REALLY bad that she can't provide anything more. "The only thing I can really tell you is that they die...weirdly."
"Eh? How so?"
"They don't die like humans."
