“Typical New York Traffic. What can I say?”
Ember didn’t look quite as amused as you’d hoped, but at the very least she hadn’t tried to attack you, so that was something. Instead of replying, Ember swerved again to avoid some sort of invisible attack from Doctor Doom. He just pointed, and the ground beside Ember’s car exploded.
“Don’t worry. I’m gonna get you out of here. I know a safe place where you can stay.”
You pulled out your portal projector and waved it at her. She glanced between it and you.
“Uh, what the hell is that?”
“Your ticket out of here. It creates a portal to a pocket dimension that I own. I’m still renovating it, though.”
Ember gave you an incredulous look.
“And I’m just supposed to just let you cram me inside of that thing?”
“Well, it’s either that, or test your luck against Doctor Doom. Your choice, really.”
Ember bit her lip and glanced over at her rear view mirror. After a second of consideration, she groaned and slipped off her seatbelt.
“Fine. Just…pull me back out when you think it’s safe, okay?”
“You got it. Just remember: Don’t litter, don’t feed the animals, and don’t start any forest fires.”
You said, as you leaned over to create a portal within the car. A red, swirling rift opened up beside Ember. She started sliding towards it almost immediately, and you could tell that some part of her was resisting, if only on reflex.
“Wait, there’s animals in there!?”
“Well, one of them is a sentient plant, but I’ve yet to confirm what else lives there. Just…try not to move around too much.”
Ember opened her mouth to protest, but she had already sunk so deep into the portal that no sound could escape her mouth without being distorted beyond recognition. When the portal winked out of existence, there was no one left to drive the car. But Ember’s absence didn’t seem to affect the vehicle’s functionality in the slightest. And that just left you crouched on top of the hood of a runaway vehicle that was being chased by about a thousand Doombots and Doctor Doom himself.
What will you do?
>Force the car to slow down, and then store it in your pocket dimension as well. You can always use it later.
>Hop into the driver’s seat and steer this thing towards the location that Reed designated. If Doom still thinks that Ember is in this car, then he’ll be twice as motivated to follow you.
>Stop the car and fly back up into the air. If Johnny wanted to lead Doom on a wild goose chase, he wasn’t going to do it alone.
>Pick up the car, place a bunch of explosive marks on it, and throw it at Doom. It might not hurt him, but it should at least take out a decent chunk of his Doombots.
>Bail out and have Johnny and Sue cover for you. You did your part. The others can take it from here.
>Write-in.
