You have a lot of things you want to do with your pals but your mind is immediately overran by some overwhelming BUZZ and ENERGY in the air. None of the others seem to pick up on it except for Benjamin. The two of you lock eyes with each other.
"Uh, what's going on?" Ashley raises an eyebrow at you two beginning to freak out.
"Do you feel that?" You mutter to Benjamin. "There's that god damn buzz. Like at that old freezer back at his place." "Yeah." Benjamin nods with a nervous smile. Well, nervous might not be the right word. It looks more ecstatic than anything. "It's electrifying. Like that crash test dummy or that chef. A very familiar buzz."
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" You flash a toothy, pearly-white smile at him. "I think something a bit less grounded would be a nice change of pace." Benjamin quickly nods his head up and down, his smile twisting to match yours. "Absolutely. There's nothing better than seeing one in the flesh, isn't there? Or bark, or static, or foam, or fur. Something that REMINDS us of the bigger picture."
[UNSTABLE] "Exactly. Glad we're on the same page, are we not?"
[DELUSIONAL] "Of course. Friends understand each other like that, no?"
Max and Adam, rightfully so, begin to freak the fuck out. Max wraps her arms around Benjamin in an attempt to prevent him from going anywhere. "Nope! Not on my watch! I already had to call a favor to stop that fucking crash test dummy from hurting you!"
Adam, meanwhile, tenses up like a nervous animal that's trapped in a corner. "Shit. Shouldn't we call an ETF agent to deal with it? Why the hell would WE want to go deal with one ourselves."
"Hey, hey!" You raise your hands up in mock surrender. "We're not 'dealing' with it. We're just 'investigating'."
"Yeah!" Benjamin looks up at Max with wide, innocent eyes reminiscent of a small puppy's. "It'll be in and out."
Ashley grips onto her baseball bat with a tired, glazed look to her eyes. She glances at the two of you before letting out a sigh. "Fuck it. I don't sense anything SUPER dangerous nearby, so I doubt it's some...uh." She snaps her fingers. "Fuck. What did that one Bennett schizo say? X something?"
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] ETF agents have a unique way of ranking the threat levels of anomalies. They rank them with a letter and number, i.e A2 or X5.
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] You only know that X means they are incredibly aggressive and beyond reason and the numbers go from 0-5, with 5 being incredibly deadly. You'll need to ask an ETF agent for more info.
"The MOMENT shit goes sideways, we're running. Okay?" You nod.
Max and Adam relent, with Max unwrapping her arms around Benjamin and Adam pulling out his knife to be safe. With their hesitant approval, you gesture at Benjamin to lead you to where the anomaly is. He seems to have a better sense of where they are. Your group trails behind him as he slips into an alleyway. Grey walls and dirty, needle covered concrete floors stretched as far as you can see.
