>>5956685At that the inquisitor looks relieved, “Right, there’s actually two things. First are rumors about a new adventurer who is rapidly rising the ranks of the guild. Says she’s got black hair and is unnaturally talented. Both of those are signs pointing to her being a Stranger, but she could just be a normal adventurer.”
“I get the unnaturally talented part, the Cheat Skill, right?” He nods, “But black hair? That’s a sign?”
“You’d be surprised.” Is all the inquisitor says on the matter.
“Alright, go on.”
“The second report is sightings of a metallic castle appearing overnight in the mountains. As far as we know no one has gotten close enough to investigate what it is, everyone’s too intimidated.”
“Even the Highlanders?”
“Yep, and it’s our job to see if there’s any connection between these two rumors, if they involve Strangers, and how much of a threat they are. All in all pretty standard.”
“A castle appearing overnight is hardly a standard occurrence,” You say with furrowed brows.
“You’d be surprised.”
The ride is over shortly after that. The carriage pulls up just close enough to the large brick building so that your walk inside is relatively short. You being a princess means your train is already there waiting for you. From what you can tell by looking into the windows of different trains is that yours is rather luxurious, with nobles and men of wealth dining in one car, while in the train opposite laymen are more crowded in seats less spread out. Nothing of poor quality but the class divide is certainly there. You didn’t even need to queue to get into the station, the perks of being royalty are always nice.
“Come on, the train leaves in an hour so let's get your stuff into your room before it takes off.” The inquisitor states as he himself carries two of your bags, while you carry one and your weapons on board.
The conductor sees you, along with the inquisitor, and steps aside without a word, “I didn’t know we’d be getting a room.”
“Two, it’d be a scandal for me to share a bedroom with the recently single princess.”
You blink, “Oh, I’d forgotten about that,” Not about your broken betrothal of course, how could you forget that? But about the improperness of it. When you were betrothed you never had to worry about things such as that, since you were engaged everyone always assumed- no that is not a topic to think about right now.
“They're right across from each other, in case you need anything. However, I’d recommend getting comfortable and maybe heading to the dining cart if you’re hungry to start off.” The inquisitor says as he stops by two very small “rooms” near the front of the train. There’s barely more than a tiny bed and desk!
He then opens one door, throws his bag on his bed, and closes said door. “Do you need anything?”
“Not at the moment, no.”
