>>5964032You flop out of bed and begin your morning routine. It’s shorter than your usual one, the train is not big enough for the facilities of the palace or academy like a grand bath. But you prepare well enough for the day. Though all throughout your routine you find yourself in a half lucid state as your mind wanders as to how best you could fight on a train. Obviously, large weapons like Sophia are out of the question lest you were fighting on the roof. Sturmfahrerin is quite large and more suited for slashing but you think you could make it work in the cramped cabins, you’re tall enough to swipe above the seats at least. Though your unnamed dagger, your old gift, and Cinder would probably be best in a straight-up confrontation.
It’s only when you leave your little room do you realize that in your daydreaming you accidentally put on the necessary harnesses and scabbards to equip yourself with your weapons. Hopefully, it isn’t some social faux pas to be equipped while riding a train, and even if it is your status will make others turn a blind eye.
“You going off to war, princess?” Inquisitor Asher says from an open door to his room, his short sword resting in its sheath under his window.
“Inquisitor, am I to walk around unguarded and unarmed like you did yesterday?” He did not wear that sword while in your room yesterday, oops.
He raises an index finger, “First mistake is assuming I’m unarmed at any time,” hidden armaments then? “But I suppose your logic is sound enough, might get a stare or two though,” oh, you already get plenty of those.
Still, it’s best to change the topic from your small blunder, “Inquisitor, I had some more questions about our occupation,”
He blinks before waving you inside and gesturing to close the door, “What about?” He asks when that task is complete.
You relay them all, from the uncommon ways Stranger can appear to questions on Cheat Skills. Sure some of this information is common knowledge but the specifics never are, it’s easy enough to infer that’s how the Inquisition likes it. Both out in the open while at the same time very vague.
“You really want me to just infodump, huh?”
“Infodump?”
“Uh- never mind. But yeah I guess I can tell you that stuff but it can get kinda strange.”
“How strange?”
“Let’s just say every Stranger is unique, in both their arrival and their Cheat Skills. Both of which we, the Inquisition, don’t really understand and we only get madder each time we try to. So we have to deal with Strangers on a case-by-case basis, but an uncommon way I’ve personally seen Strangers come to our world is by turning into an item.”
You blink, “What do you mean by that?”
