I’ve been putting all my work into making the battles a good balance between strategic and simple, while leaving room for story stuff to happen mid-battle without being discordant. But I’ve never designed anything this in-depth before, and find my little self-tests very lacking. Would it be contrived/stupid to run a sort of pilot thread with just one noncanon mission to stress test the system? Or should I just keep my nose to the grindstone and keep hammering it on my own?
To those who may have guessed what the alluded “dead franchise” is, cross my heart and hope to die, I promise SHE is not a part of this.
