“I’m not being mean!!! We can’t involve Liu in this and you know it!” Vera thinks she’s being pragmatic.
“B-But you told me all about your magic.” Liu doesn’t get it.
“I was going to delete your memories too, duh! But since I know he’s going to stop me now, I have to do some damage control.” Vera wants to clue Liu in that she can’t hear any of this. “Now, to the corner, please.”
“Very well…” Liu is as sad as you are as she grabs the headphones. “Are these noise-canceling headphones?”
“No, just go watch a video or something.” Vera acts like she wouldn’t carry those with her.
“Sorry, Liu, it’ll be just a moment.” You apologize to the ruffled-haired girl.
“I-I don’t want to be in the way.” Liu doesn’t mind as long as it helps you.
With the headphones on, Liu sits in the corner and starts watching a Youtube video. Now you and Vera can talk.
“I thought you were going to stop me.” Vera believes you have gained some intelligence while you were away from her. “I was ready to tell you about how it’s against the new rules to divulge information about the flames. Not like those Judges have found a system to spy on us efficiently, but you can never be sure.”
“Let’s do this quickly, I don’t want things to be awkward for Liu.” You say.
“You need to stop getting attached to randos you find on the street. Only the ones you find in apartments are worth your time, and very cute I might add.” Vera smiles.
“I don’t decide who I get attached to. Now, the Alien…” You need your answers.
“I remember after I deleted your memories, in the blink of an eye, I saw myself in a car… I was dead tired, but I had to stay awake, I couldn’t LET him do anything to you…”
