Still affected by what happend with James, you try to focus only on your boss' orders in helping with whatever other remote employee in Chicago needed. The faster it ends, the better. You're in.
You see the screen divided - counting with me - six people. You, Carie and Robert as the remotes; Shannon, Stephanie and Martin as workers as the locals in Gary.
"Good morning, Ryan!", Shannon is first to talk and seemed happy for your presence. "I heard someone here got a compliment from boss..."
"It's nothing, Shannon", you reply, pretending some humbleness "Another day of work, but thanks"
"Every day of work truly is dignifying!", she keeps talking and you can't understand why she talks so refined. "Each one of us help spread the good word and make a new morning shine better than the previous!", she laughs. Other people try to say hi to you, but she cuts everyone hastily, "Let's begin the meet, shall we?"
Everyone agree. She goes through her papers, finds some notes and touches them with the tip of her well-sharped pencil. "First order of the day: Progress on our articles! First, the remotes, then locals. Ryan delivered his article few days ago, now I want to know about you two", she tries to point out to Carie and Robert, but seems to fail in understanding not everyone see screens as computer shows her. Nobody ever pointed out this to Shannon.
"My investigation on that tenure from Chicago University is still a bit stuck", Robert starts, "I think interviewing him won't be any difficult"
"Why didn't you do it yet?", Shannon inquires and gives Robert a suspicous look.
"Lack of proofs"
"Did we ever need 'proof' to post anything?"
"Did you find anything basic on him?", Martin tries to defend him from Shannon, "Remember: Chicago University showed some financial issues, according to our sources, and some funds were diverted to a private company called 'OmniMed' and the signature of this professor was in some sketchy papers around this transaction. Only publishing these papers won't be enough. Even if he stays silent all time, we will extract everything we need to complete this article"
