It was fifteen minutes later that they found Adok. The Dwarf was sitting at the back of the wagon looking at a blade that he was in the middle of perfecting for Lucian. The guess of the Peasant Knight was this blade would become the edge of the newest scythe, but it could be something completely different for it was far from finished.
It was the grumble of Bok, the giant Kroxigor that Tyny rode, that snapped the Dwarf from his work towards the group who had double in size.
“By the Ancestor Gods…” The Dwarf was slowly reaching towards his hammer yet his eyes could not be removed from the two new fellows.
The Skink stood there for a moment waiting to see what the Dwarf did. Tyny would not have known it but Lucian noticed that the Dwarf had not brought up his hammer into a stance of battle. Instead his eyes were focus squarely upon the skink in question.
Lucian would be honest that if the Skink had not been talking all his attention would have been towards the Kroxigor. That was not the same for Adok whose eyes, Lucian realized, was focused squarely upon the golden headpiece that was encrusted with the feathers of birds Lucian did not begin to imagine.
The Knight, who was more concerned with staying alive and then diplomacy a moment ago, was now paying attention to it. The primary part of it was made of gold which wrapped around both the head and the jaw of the lizard who was wearing it. It must have had straps of some sort where Lucian could not see for without ears or a proper skull he did not think the headpiece stayed a firmly upon the head of the bearer as possible.
For the feathers they were either yellow, white, or blue. The meaning of which must have been heraldic but Lucian did not know the meaning.
By then the Peasant Knight did not know what else to make of it. So he called out to the speechless dwarf, “Uh, Adok?”
The sudden call of his name caused the Runesmith to give a couple of coughs. So heavy was he in concentration that losing it caused his body problems, “Uggh, Lucian, who are these folk? They clearly are not Beastmen.”
“I am Tee-Ny-Tyny and this is Bok. We are Lizardmen of Itza, in Lustria.” The Skink raised a hand towards himself then towards the lizard underneath him, “The two of us are now your allies against the coming threat of undeath. It was the suggestion by Lucian that we discuss our next course of action together.”
“Lustria?” Adok began to give a slow nod in slow understanding, “Then, you are Children of the Old Ones, those that came before!”
