But I did watch Greta Gerwig back when she was in the Noah Baumbach produced Frances Ha (2012), and I did watch Mistress America (2015) with her in it too. Her acting in those films felt naturalistic and carefree whereas by the time she / her directing was embraced by mainstream hype in the dreaded Ladybird etc I thought the style of that genre of films had become predictable and contrived. I saw While We're Young by Baumbach (I just like Ben Stiller from Zoolander and Tropic Thunder and Dodgeball) and that felt like a clever and subtle comedy, but I think his directorial style would also become tiresome after too many viewings.
TRACY
I know what it is to want things.
BROOKE
No, you don’t. You can’t really know what it is to want things
until you’re at least thirty. And then with each passing year it gets more because the want is bigger and the possibility is less. Like how each passing year of your life feels faster because it is a smaller portion of your total life. Like that but in reverse. Everything becomes pure want.
