>>5729421oh I really like it, I was reading bits of it already, the writing is very accomplished and has a solipsistic dreamlike wanderer floating world feel, the Max Bedulenko art is really beautiful, we have similar taste in exotic orientalist desert city artstation hoarded collections yay! Yaldabaoth is a very good name too! I feel like there needs to be more DANGER though, but maybe the author's style is a bit of an introspective slow burn hehe. Also I do especially like it when authors post the inventory pictures of the game items hooray
>>5708003Soma is your name from Aldous Huxley's Brave New World? Somehow whenever I think of Soma I am always reminded of Christian Bale Equilibrium film, the emotion killing nepenthe drug in it, lol so many memes from the Tetragrammaton cleric lol also a nice poem from WB Yeats, this one
AEDH WISHES FOR THE CLOTHS OF HEAVEN
Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
Ned Stark man reads this. I suppose a similar fate befalls him and Ned Stark and Boromir and that Goldeneye villain man. Why is he always dying?
A good rpg I played for the desert city feel was a free user fan mod of Neverwinter Nights called Almraiven. A few unusual things about that mod: unlike just about every rpg I have seen, in this mod, you do not get to automatically know random npc names. Everyone is just a stranger eg Mysterious Beggar etc until you talk to them and unlock their name through conversation. Also, the level design is very unusual in this mod. All the levels are extremely small, but DENSE as in they are often a few streets or alleyways, but filled with many dozens of npcs, whom you have to interact with and discover their stories. Finally, the spellcasting is different to the main game, unlike the standard Baldur's Gate IWD NWN Vancian infinite rest spam for spell replenishment, you have to acquire spellbooks, find the ingredients of every spell (it is really complicated) actually read and collect all these tomes and grimoires before you can cast a Colour Spray or Magic Missile. There is also a lot of alchemy for detection (think potions to reveal blood or other murder fluids / evidence). The sort of vaguely middle-eastern exotic location ambience is really well made in this mod, the graphics are FAR SUPERIOR to the core default NWN game
