He stared at her for nearly as long as he gazed upon the sculpture of the Lady. Only after his mind was recovered did he finally ask, “H-how?”
She placed a finger upon her lips with the smile still held, “It is a secret.”
“Why?” Was the immediate question that Lucian pushed himself to ask. He could feel himself fighting against the words but not because of fear, it was simply the awe of wonder he felt.
Her smile changed from that of the fay to that of man, becoming just that little less wide and eyes softening. Her voice was like a soft rain upon Lucian’s senses, “I have come here to hear your Oath, Lucian, and to send you off. This much should be done for someone who has done so much in the Lady’s service.”
“I… I… I don’t know.” Lucian held his head for a moment, “I… I yelled at you. Ordered a Damsel!”
“You did not, you ordered about a Peasant.” She said with reassurance, “Such was the face you saw. No injury was done.”
The words were clear that she did not mind what he did to her at those moments. Yet he did not forget what she said during that time, for those words were surely not divorced from the person. Yet was there any meaning within it?
Lucian did not know.
“The guise of the Lady looks upon us.” Albera said as she presented a hand towards the statue, “She herself is here to witness as I speak with her voice. Lucian the Durand, Black Knight, Heir of Ruin, you may now give me your words. To what deeds shall you achieve on this Quest for enlightenment against the dreadful enemy of undeath?”
Lucian would need to be careful here. These Vows were as binding as marriage. Only in death will Lucian be freed from them, and he should not bear to face Albera unless his Vows are completed. If it was a vow of conduct, failure would lose him all chances to becoming a Grail Knight.
The Vows, beyond all matters, was a way for Knights to Ascend. If Lucian completed the Vow, there will be not stopping to making him a Knight of the Realm. It was said, even, that completing a great enough vow could curry a miracle from the Lady herself.
Things that have been sworn in the past have been the vowing to slay a Great Monster. To Never Retreat. To Defend the Realm. To Lay Low the Tyrants. To Protect Those in Need. Lucian shall choose his vows carefully and wisely, for if he accomplished them on this Quest then his water shall turn to wine and his heart into steel.
>Write it, Anons. Write the Vow! We will see what you guys come up with and then make votes after 7 est. Because of this you guys should not be ashamed to post anything for there is no risk of vowing without intent.
