“That's… very good to know.” Lucian told the old man with a small bit of surprise.
“For now though we must get your ready for the Errant Oath. It is the Oath that all Noblemen take when they reach the age of sixteen which grants them the privilage of fighting in wars. Such a thing now you cannot avoid.” Declared the Count, “We must prepare a few things before you ascend to such a state. A Horse, A Crest, and Heraldry.”
The man took a sip of wine before continuing, “A Horse has been arranged. I had a beast reserved if my own was slain, and since she was, I shall approach the young lad to collect my insurance. Now what remains is your crest and heraldry.”
“So you want some metal working done?” Adok asked with a smile, “I can make some nice plumes like those other fellows have if you want me to try.”
“He cannot wear something that poignant, Sir Dwarf.” The Count said with a rebuff, “He will have simple garb as is accustomed by his fellow Knights Errant. The Ornament that crowns his armor can be repaired but shall not have a single feather sticking out of it. It also should not be taller than a man’s first.”
The Count looked towards Lucian now, “What you must decide is your Heraldry, to what do you hang in triumph and stake your honor upon. Many have used colors, with only green not being chosen by the Nobles for it is of the Peasant and Fay. For you however might want to show your beginnings in a sign of humility to calm others.”
“Do we have enough time to get all this together?” Lucian asked as he felt everything being so fast.
“We must or it will dishonor you. You must swear upon your Heraldry after all.”
