Ana was insistent, and Elsa could probably sense her unease at the situation, because her demeanor changed in the blink of an eye.
“Oh, I believe you, kiddo. You’ve always had sharp senses. Plus, I don’t think you’d drag me all the way over here just for a social call—which is something you should do more often, by the way. It’s what normal people do when they want to see each other.”
“None of us are ‘normal people’.” Ana countered.
Elsa turned to Flint.
“Not even him?”
“Not exactly.”
He made a giant, sandy fist, and Elsa whistled.
“Me oh my! What a marvel you are.”
She took several steps closer to Flint to get a closer look.
“Are you supposed to be a golem or something?”
“Oh nah, I’m not Jewish.”
The room fell dead silent for a moment. You slapped your forehead and ran a hand down your face, but Elsa had an entirely different reaction. It started as a light chuckle, but quickly evolved into a howling cackle. The famed monster hunter was doubled over, laughing at Flint’s unintentional joke.
“Oh, Stasie! Where’d you find this one? He’s a riot!”
She wiped a tear from her eye with a gloved hand and shook her head.
“I’ll have to watch out for you. Had me in stitches there for a moment. Now, who wants to show me and Frank to our rooms? This guy snores like a chainsaw and sleeps like the dead, so I’ll need some extra thick earplugs as well.”
“Gloria’s right-hand man should be here any minute now.”
And right on cue, Koa came jogging into the room, slightly out of breath.
“Alright, I’m here. What’s so important that you-”
The startled look on his face when he noticed Frank was absolutely priceless. He might’ve screamed out loud if he wasn’t so winded. The guy seemed pretty fit, too. So he must’ve run over here in a hurry.
“Oh, don’t worry about him. Frank’s practically harmless. Wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
Elsa’s words were probably meant to be reassuring, but you sincerely doubted that the big lug was only here to carry her bags.
“Be a dear and lead him to his room? Me and the kids are gonna pop down by the main lobby and have a nice, long chat over a cuppa. Feel free to join us when you’re done.”
Without another word, or waiting for Koa to reply, she strode down the hallway, her long red ponytail trailing behind her. After a moment, the rest of you did the same.

Fortunately for everyone in the hotel, Elsa was perfectly satisfied with the cup of tea that she received. A bit of forewarning was to thank for that, but it had been worth it. She had been clinging very closely to her guitar case these past few minutes, and had finally been content to let it rest against the table as she sat back in her chair. Judging from the relief on Ana’s face, you were correct in assuming that it didn’t carry a string instrument.
