>>5687529“That’s where things get a little dicey…” Ursula looks like guilt is consuming her. “The book itself ain’t important. It’s just, like, some delinquent drama? Fiction. It’s an old book. Way old. But it had a note about a treasure. Shortening the details, all the flags in every school in the city have a piece of the puzzle to find it. There were like 30-something. You beat a school, you get their piece, and move on. That’s the idea. The tradition is so old, everyone forgot. When I read it, all the major schools still had a piece.”
“And now you used Amelia to beat them all to get their clues for a petty treasure you aren’t sure exists.” Nariko doesn’t care for Ursula anymore. “By your insinuations from earlier, I assume you’re onto your last puzzle piece.”
“I’m just a little curious, okay? But that ain’t everything.” Ursula doesn’t like being judged.
“I feel a little duped.” Door Opener guy is upset.
“Stop that! We get the treasure and it’s over. There’s no reason for more fighting. No more dumb gang violence. We win.” Ursula points out. “Don’t look down, we’re at the end of it. Of course, the flag itself isn’t important, we need the flagpole. We gotta ask the Golden Boy where it is.”
“I suppose I’m curious about the results of this expedition…” Nariko is on board for the very bad reasons she looked down upon.
Is it better to have senseless gang violence or having dumb reasons for gang violence? Not the type of question you ever thought you’d ask yourself, but this is the life you live.
