“I will answer what I can.” The old man said as Lucian caught sight of his sickened boney skin. He gave a mighty other cough, his life likely held in check only by the will of the Death God.
“One of your people, those at the inn, said that the Baron is coming to kill them. Who are they and how did you anger your ruler so thoroughly?”
“You are mistaken Sir Knight.” The Elder said as he gave a slight shaking of the head, “I have angered the neighboring Lord Baron Burapest. He has seen it fit that our village, which committed the dishonor of giving him an inadequate meal and company, has been declared a target of a Feud.”
“A Feud? What? Why would a Knight be Feuding with a bunch of peasants?” Lucian could not help but express his confusion without cover or obfuscation.
“He did not do it against a single person but the village. He cannot discipline us directly for such a transgression for we are not his peasants.” The old man pointed out, “Yet it seems my mistake was so great that he wishes to do so anyways. If Shallya is merciful upon us he will only burn half the village down, but I cannot know otherwise.”
“Where is the Lord? A Baron or Count should be looking over you all.” Lucian told the Peasant with worry building.
“The Count has more issues and our Baron has gone to help the King in his battle against evil. As the King is dead, Baron Budapest must have reasoned that there will be no retaliation from our Sovereign.”
Lucian laid back as he heard those words for it began to make sense now. No one was going to accept him as they were too terrified that he was an attacker. Even declaring himself a Knight was going to rob him of any chance for he might have been someone trying to burn down their home.
Right now it did not matter if this was a legal, ethical, or chivalric action the Baron was committing.
“I would like to help.” Lucian said before he could really think about it, “I would at least want to mediate between the two groups.”
“Leave us to our deaths, of Knight.” Peter said as he gave a solemn nod, “We are not worth troubling you for our sins. And even if we did not commit sin I do not think Budapest would be willing to listen to your words.”
>We are helping anyways
>Alright, we will head out
I kinda have to laugh that Village Elder actually has a warhammer page, specifically for Bretonnia. I was pulling that out of my ass.
