He also managed to impart upon you a lengthy ritual, which can be used to permanently alter living beings when used upon them. In the process of learning that particular spell, he took you from Kami's Lookout to his impressive and daunting castle within the Red Sea, in order to show you an example of what such magic could produce. There, in the courtyard, he plucked a bright red apple from a tree growing there, and offered it to you. You accepted it graciously, of course, and upon eating it you found it to be not only exceptionally delicious...but quite intoxicating. The rest of that day was a blur, admittedly, but you do distinctly remember playing strange dice games with some of Garlic's peculiar looking people and losing quite terribly. Upon waking up in an unfamiliar bedroom, Garlic apparently had his personal attendant Spice - who you enthusiastically shook hands with, having suspected he might be here - assist you in becoming presentable once more before he took you back to the lookout.
That incident, at least, confirmed your suspicions of who Spice's master was. And indeed, just as Barbar said, Spice's energy had a distinctly malevolent tinge to it, despite his otherwise friendly and polite demeanour. In fact, every Makyan that you'd felt in the castle had a similar evil feel, leaving you with a heavy feeling on what Garlic's eventual role-to-be would be the result of. You didn't let your apprehension show, hiding your thoughts and feelings from your new master as you returned to Kami's.
Not long after such incident, you decided to conclude your training with the man, feeling as though you've learned a good amount of what you wanted to - both of magic, and of Garlic's true nature. You can't confirm it, but you strongly suspect that Garlic has evil intentions for pursuing Guardianship, and only seeks the betterment of himself and his people over the benefit of Earth. Through telepathy, you confide as much in your companions on the day that you decided to end the training, much to their concern.
As far as their own training goes, Barbar's energy feels significantly calmer than it used to. His rough edges and critical nature have softened into a diligent patience, though small cracks of his old ways do still show. Harum's physique has exploded even more than it did when he undertook Mutaito's training, as he's now larger and bulkier than Piccolo himself by a wide margin - and though his ki doesn't feel much stronger than yours, it definitely closed the gap in his favour, mostly due to the fact that you were refining an entirely different kind of energy within yourself. Azalea showed the most progress, as your newly-attuned magical senses show her absolutely brimming with magical power that grew in leaps and bounds over the course of her time with Popo. She keeps a tight lid on what she learned from him, apparently wanting it to be a surprise.
