Okay yeah there's no way you're NOT investigating the man drinking printer ink but that computer is the back is drawing a bit more of your attention. After you're done scribbling down your name in shaky handwriting, you put on the lanyard. You cautiously begin to approach the cubicle while your allies are busy talking amongst each other.
Nothing slows you down on your trek over to said cubicle given that everyone seems to be making a wide berth away from it. A sea of gazes from old, tired men (with the youngest being in his late 50s) stare down at you when they see that you're approaching the cubicle but none are willing to stop you. You say 'willing to stop you' since there's a lot of mental bickering from them over whether to tell you to stop or not.
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] Now that you think on it, the youngest men you've seen on this base so far were at the front of the Administration Building but even they were in their late 30s.
After passing through what felt like miles (though realistically probably only a few dozen cubicles) of cubicles, you stop in front of an abandoned cubicle. It's tucked away far, far in the back of the building that's clearly been neglected, maintenance wise. The fluorescent lights that illuminated the rest of the building are completely dead here, casting the place in deep shadow.
There's a LOT of garbage laying around on the desk and floor of the cubicle but your attention is drawn to the old computer sitting on the desk. A light blue glow pours out of the computer's screen. Taking a closer look, you see that a message is being displayed...
"ENTER PASSWORD. ONE ATTEMPT LEFT. <span class="mu-b">WILL SELF DENOTATE IF ALL ATTEMPTS USED UP.</span>"
Oh. Well that's comforting. No wonder why they're avoiding this like the plague.
You feel a metallic hand on your shoulder and turning around, you're relieved to see it's just Kiara checking up on you. "So! Find anything interesting over here?" Her tinny voice chirps out of her voice module. "I know you wanted some shade but I didn't think you would go this far!"
"Haha." You respond with a monotone laugh. "Yeah, no. Found a bomb." You jab a thumb at the computer's screen. Kiara focuses her gaze at where you're pointing and quickly backs away from the computer upon reading it.
[MILITARY EXPERIENCE] "Unusual. They would've turned it off by now." You stumble back in shock when you hear Naomi's voice RIGHT behind you. Fuck, you didn't expect her to sneak up on you. "I'd imagine there's something important on there if they're keeping the power on."
Naomi (with Alexis next to her) is keeping a safe distance away from the computer. "I do apologize for sneaking up. It's a bad habit of mine."
Alexis taps her foot on the garbage-covered floor around the cubicle. "Question is, who owns it? Is there any personal trinkets or paperwork we could try looking through?"
"THAT IS A QUESTION EVEN WE DON'T KNOW." A stranger calls out with an oddly familiar monotone.
