If he was just that little bit more crafty, that little bit more cynical with his life, Lucian would have lied here. The potential gains that he could get by admonishing the truth and burying it under several layers of words would easily grow his standing.
Yet, even with all the benefit, Lucian was no goblin. No upstart looking to stake his claim within the highest thrones of Bretonnia. His meaning in life was already determined when he faced down that vampire at what felt to be several years ago. If it was not with how vibrant the event stayed within his mind he would have question just how lucky he had been that night.
“My Lord Moriset,” The Knight began as he gave a bow, “It is by my own eyes that I witnessed the lance of Gillot coming from behind my person to impale the chest of the Warlord. It was the same moment that I had impaled the creature with my scythe, cutting into its brain.”
“Was the moment really as perfect as you claim?” The Duke questioned with a good ounce of misbelief, “As I look upon you Lucian you must have fought the creature for almost the entire battle. Are you sure that you did not impale its head first and then my son struck it?”
There was an admonishment within those words against the Prince. The look of surprise and disgust that the boy gave his own father upon realizing that the Duke would so willingly lay down his own son against the words of a nobody without blood.
It was quite humorous.
“I say what I said in the name of the Lady and Morr.” The Black Knight spoke out with determination, “I may have stabbed the creature in the brain, my Lord, but I do not know if it would have been slain by such a wound.”
“Aye, I concur!” Declared Adok as he found a place to butt in, “I have seen many orcs fight even when cannonballs have removed half of their heads. While one of these blows would have proven mortal I agree with the Umgi that both warriors finished off the warboss.”
