“If we already have a rough idea of where he is, why don’t we try to spring a trap on him ahead of schedule?” you suggested. “You know, get the jump on him before anyone else can.”
Silvermane shook his head slowly. “Several reasons. First: The containment field isn’t finished yet. Even if we get our hands on him, what’re we supposed to do with him?” he said. “Second: The moment we go after him, everyone else is gonna notice, and they’ll do the same. All hell will break loose, and I want to be prepared for that. And lastly, I don’t want us to be the first group to make their move. That leaves us vulnerable, and by then, every other group will know which cards we chose to play. I’d rather take advantage of another team’s weakness, rather than jumping right in and getting dogpiled.” he reasoned.
“Take advantage of the chaos and confusion.” Felicia said, nodding her approval.
“Got it in one, kitty cat.”
“Can you give me a quick rundown on who some of these people are? I’d like to know what we’re dealing with.” you asked.
“Out of the three new mercs that I listed, Deadhead’s the most troublesome to deal with. The guy just won’t die, no matter what you do to him. My men say that he’s some sort of zombie with an impenetrable metal helmet.” Silvermane explained. “He heals as fast as Wolverine, and he ain’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Foxhole is less annoying, but probably twice as deadly. She’s got sharp claws, and a black hole between her tits.”
You and your companions all raised an eyebrow at almost exactly the same time.
Silvermane shrugged. “Hey, don’t look at me. I’m just telling you what I’ve heard. Rumor has it that she can shove just about anything in there for later, which makes her wily and unpredictable.” he suggested. “And then there’s Halfstep. Honestly, there’s not a lot that we know about the guy other than the fact that he’s real short, and knows how to kill real good. If you run into him, you’ll have to let me know how it goes.”
This mission is sounding less and less fun by the minute. It won’t be easy to fight off dozens of pro killers and experienced fighters all at the same time.
There’s only one more question that you wanted to ask, but it was only because Cindy requested it.
“What do you plan on doing with the suit, and the guy inside of it when you get your hands on both?” you asked.
Everyone stopped talking all at once and looked at you curiously. Silvermane was the first to recover.
“Oh, I’m thinking about taking him out for ice cream.” he said easily. When no one responded immediately, he rolled his eyes and threw his hands up into the air. “What do you think? I’m gonna get rid of him!” he declared. “The moment he steps foot into this room, he’s already seen too much. I can’t have him running his mouth, saying things he isn’t supposed to.”
