"Don't worry." Your mouth twists into a toothy smile. "I won't lose this. I accept." Realistically, you could probably get him to blow his brains out with his own revolver but you rather keep him alive. For now. Ashley nods along, seemingly getting the general idea of what you're thinking.
Clover snaps his fingers, "You six. Get out. This is between me and her." The Bosses grumble in a variety of languages you can't understand but they file out without much fuss. It is now just you, him, and your allies. Clover slides the deck of cards over to Benjamin. Benjamin quickly inspects the deck before shuffling it at speeds your eyes can hardly process.
"Now." Clover pulls a cigarette and lighter from somewhere on his person. "Best of three. R-Corp Holdem. We somehow tie? Tiebreaker match. We tie that? Flip of the coin. Know how to play?"
You take a moment to remember the rules...
>Each player gets two cards, known as Hole Cards, that act as their hand.
>Five cards are placed facedown onto the table. These are known as Community Cards. They will be revealed over the course of the game.
>Once all five Community Cards are revealed or both players decline to bet more, they reveal their Hole Cards.
>Your goal is to get a better hand than the opponent with any combination of Hole and Community cards.
You nod your head. "I believe so. Is there any special conditions you wish to make before we do anything else? I rather not have any last section rule changes."
Clover hums, "Considering that ballsy move you did before? Nope. I got no other rules besides the obvious. Don't let me catch you cheating. You can guess what the punishment is." <<span class="mu-b">"...I won't let someone cheat me out of anything ever again. I can't let my guard down. Never again."</span>> You tilt your head at what you gleamed from his mind. Interesting.
Before you have time to dwell more on what that internal thought of his meant, Benjamin quickly deals out the cards. Your allies sit down on your side of the tables, clearly not sure what to do now that you're gambling with a potentially insane cowboy larper. Well, except for Max and Casey. Both are giving thumbs up and beaming smiles. It's just that Max is focusing on Benjamin and Casey is focusing on you.
"Blind bet, people!" Benjamin slaps the table. His voice is oddly low. Obviously forced to try to seem cooler. "$100 each."
Max can't help but to hide back a giggle while your other allies share a mixed expression of confusion, disappointment, and apathy.
Clover slides over a hundred dollar bill. You slide over some loose bills that adds up to $100. Without any further ado, Benjamin flips three of the Community Cards. A queen of hearts, a jack of hearts, and a six of spades. You check your hand. A queen of spades and a king of diamonds.
Good, a pair of Queens. Not a bad start.
<<span class="mu-b">"A pair's not bad."</span>> Weird, that's all you can gleam from his mind. "Call." He raps his knuckle on the table. How do you respond?
