By being extremely cool and skilled at performing skateboarding tricks, a Skater can tap into a supernatural energy called the "Shredforce" (or just Skate Energy) which can change reality. Everything from the ability to move at supernatural speed across power lines with a Thunder-Grind, creating illusion copies of oneself with a Mirror-Ollie, or forcing lesser skaters off their boards with horrifying injuries simply from the sheer power of one's Skating-Intent. Some of the most powerful tricks can cause death to an unprepared skater. Different boards are crafted which have their own magical effects, or can augment the abilities of the rider along with infusing them with powerful stickers charged with Skate energy which act as a sort of currency for Skaters. All of these things require a great deal of time and practice to accomplish, which has lead to the creation of Skating sects which jealously guard this knowledge.
Society has altered itself to idolize Skaters, with many trying desperately to join Skate gangs and sects which teach the most choice tricks and hold the best skating parks with which to gather most of this skate energy- which naturally gathers at the coolest locations most in tune with Skate culture- like the mythical place where Tony Hawk performed his first kickflip. Other sects could include BMX bikers, aggressive roller skate punks, and scooter kids who all tap into slightly different forms of Skate-Energy. The MC would attempt to join one of these sects with nothing but a rotten wooden board and an ethic of hard work; working their way up. A slightly tongue in cheek fantastical Skateboarding Quest featuring cultivation (cultiskatetion?) elements.
