“HAHAHA!” Lucian rose to his feet to the sound of Adok’s laughter.
Never before had he seen such an expression upon a person, let alone Adok. Where the Dwarf had been full of comradery and jovialness this time his face was tightened with a smile and wild eyes. Lucian would have called it completely foreign if he had not felt the burning fury that was Grimnir just a moment ago.
Dwarfen lust. He had read a tale that Dwarfs were near uncontrollable when it came to gold and such material was of the greatest import to their society. It was said that so treasure was it that they would murder and entire village if they had been swindled out of a single coin.
Such emotions, a near primal desire for gold that was on parity to a starving man wanting to eat, was for Adok seeing the power of his own work.
“You lived!” Cheered the Dwarf as he walked over and got Lucian to his feet, “Grimnir smiles upon you to even be standing right now.”
“By all the Gods above and those damned.” Lucian announced as he finally felt the earth once again, “My soul… I swear Adok… it aches.”
“It's your first Rune.” The Dwarf said as the alien smile was replaced with a much more normal one, “Give it a few days and you won’t even remember this happened. Just like our trainings together.”
Lucian had a greater understanding of what Adok was doing during those trainings. It was clear the pain that he was put through was not only about getting him better at wearing normal armor, but prepared to this very moment. Pain beyond what Lucian could imagine.
“Well we should see how it works.” Adok said as that demonic smile edged his mouth, “What you want to cut down first?”
