>>5944676As you wait for the planetary reports to arrive, you read up on the latest reports from Captain Cimon, who is keeping an eye on the state of the wider galaxy. In your local cluster things seem to be quiet, and he has not detected any major fleet movements, human or Astartes. The wider galaxy however…
Bloodshed in space. It is only a few months since Istvaan, and already the Imperium is unravelling. Civil war on Mars has broken out, between factions of the Mechanicum, and the planet has descended into total war, with even titan legions duelling across the Red Planet’s surface. The remnants of the 3 loyalist legions at Istvaan are still harassing Horus’s forces, but there is little these broken and shattered legions can do to stop his inexorable advance. Fleets are racing across the void to their strategic targets, and though you are no longer part of The Hydra you still have some access to The Network. Russ and the entire Space Wolves Legion has been dispatched to Prospero, for some unknown but ominous purpose. Lorgar is leading a significant part of his Word Bearers to Ultramar, the real Imperial Fists are racing towards Cthonia, and across the entire imperium fires are starting, systems declaring for either side or simply descending into senseless bloodshed. You have no doubt that soon the entire galaxy will be engulfed, the small fires growing into blazes which will burn the Imperium to ash, no matter the winner. War will consume the galaxy, striking at the very heart of the Imperium and the Emperor’s ideals of prosperity and hope, and there is no telling what will be left once it is ended. A grim, dark future awaits.
What is your attitude towards this civil war?
>Ambivalent. It is the way of humanity, to return to war and conflict. Perhaps it was inevitable, perhaps not. But you will not let these nebulous ideas trouble you, all you need to do is to survive.>Regretful. The Emperor’s ideals were a chance for humanity to better itself, but now they will be scattered to the wind by Horus’ ambition, even if He were to win. A shame indeed.>Disgusted. Horus is ambitious and The Emperor is a fool. How could He not see this coming? How could Horus betray all that he has fought and stood for? The Tyrant and The Traitor are little different.>Write in?
