"...Former." Emily clarifies. That doesn't make it any better. "Due to this recent incident, the one assigned to update the training regime has been...occupied."
"If we help you to lower the human harm rates of this course, will you promise to help us when it comes to recruitment negotiations with the Q-Company rep?" Alexis stares down at Emily. "We need you to promise to help us." She barely has time to finish that line before Emily violently shakes her head up and down.
>Emily is now FULLY on board with helping you out. This will be very helpful when you start negotiations.
"Good. I would get to that. Get a nurse to take your place while you bother the higher ups, please-" And she's already running out of the tent, babbling to the nurses she's passing by. Wow. Turns out she was a lot easier to mess with than you thought.
Welp! No point staying here. You keep your eyes focused away from the barely conscious Olivia as you lead your group back to the Barracks. Given the close distance between the two and the fact you had time to cool off in the tent, the sun was actually tolerable to deal with this time around.
Preston immediately tenses up when he sees your group return and aims his gun for another attempt at a 'warning' shot. You expect it this time so you immediately cut him off with a simple phrase. One that immediately shakes him to his core.
"We know about Olivia AND we know about what the training course is about. Now. Let's not do anything too rash. Get down and talk to us. Outside."
Your group heads back outside, waiting to see if he's willing to talk to you without a gun pointing at you and numbers to protect him if you tried to do anything. Luckily, he doesn't leave you waiting out in the sun for too much. The scarred man exits the barracks, his gun firmly placed on a holster around his belt. The fire that was in him early is gone now. There's only regret left.
"I was just following orders. I wanted to cleanse my hands of that. Is that so wrong?" Normally, you would give some level of forgiveness to this man. You've granted forgiveness towards a rich asshole who indirectly killed hundreds of people. But something about how he's trying to squirm out of this is pissing you off.
You know that he's the one who made the training course too brutal and now, he's not even willing to unfuck his error despite getting someone close to him hurt over it.
"Why?" Kiara bluntly asks. "Why did you try to stop us from getting the password to try improving it?"
"Look. The changes I already added are doing a number as is. What if the changes I was working on ruin things even more? What if they do the opposite and they make the training course too easy? Too soft?" <<span class="mu-b">"What if I could've prevented the damage I've done? And I was too cowardly to do it?"</span>>
You're pretty sure he's willing to spit out the password with just the right push at this point but...how do you want to handle it now?
