Seeing as how she didn’t have to worry about having you bring her down here, Elsa was now loading all of her weapons and double checking her inventory. She loaded two pistols and stowed them on either of her thighs, and placed two shotguns into a custom, cross-patterned holster on her back.
Meanwhile, Ana’s prep was far less tedious. She simply removed a sizable spear and a powerful looking crossbow from Elsa’s guitar case and made sure that they were in pristine condition. There were also a few hatchets, knives and other such throwables attached to her belt.
Compared to them, and maybe Prowler, you felt severely underdressed. All you really had were a couple of web bombs, a sturdy dagger, your handguns and a sonic cannon that you’ve never truly fired or tested out before. But then again, you were also a metahuman capable of ripping someone’s head off of their body with your bare hands, so that had to count for something.
And the hand explosions. Couldn’t forget about the hand explosions.
After a few minutes, the platform came to a stop, and a hole opened up in the middle, where you could finally see solid ground within a range that didn’t seem cartoonishly ridiculous.
One by one, you all jumped through the hole and landed on solid ground. Once you were all off, Flint collapsed the construct and reformed himself behind the group. He was still normal sized, but he kept the massive pile of sand trailing behind him just in case he needed it.
But the big guy needn’t have downsized himself to fit in this underground cavern, for it was big enough to comfortably house him at max size! Whoever had dug this wasted no effort in making it as expansive as they possibly could. It was cold, dark, musty and somehow unwelcoming. You couldn’t describe how or why. It was just a general vibe you got.
But what you did understand was your spider sense warning you about an impending attack. And you didn’t need to wonder about where the attack was coming from, because the answer was simple enough. If the dozens of crimson, beady eyes were any indication, the answer was…pretty much everywhere!
“Look alive! They’re coming in hot!”
The words had just barely been out of Elsa’s mouth before she was firing both pistols into the inky darkness where demons lurked. With each and every flash, you caught a glimpse of the horrific creatures that threatened to close in on you. Flint reacted just as quickly, sending his sand into a swirling dust devil that scoured the flesh of anything that got too close to you. But that only worked about half the time. Some were too stubborn to go down that easily, and others were just plain tanky. They barreled straight through the sandy barrier and lunged at you with claws outstretched, fangs bared and sinewy muscles tensed.
