Mentally, you ran through the plan again, just to make sure that there weren’t any glaring flaws to address.
For the most part, you were planning on keeping the original capture team the same, with the exception of including Matt. His acute senses should be useful for scouting out in the field.
In order for this plan, you’ll need to get the Silvertongue away from the rest of its allies. You’ll need to use any wards, curses, or jinxes to try and prevent it from casting spells. Hell, you might even web its mouth shut just to be safe.
If the thing doesn’t want to separate from the pack, then you’ll just do your best to stage it as an attack on the Serpent Society themselves. Marc’s friends should be able to provide a decent amount to cover while you and the capture team single out the Silvertongue.
And since the magic prep doesn’t have a whole lot to do until the creature is detained, they can spend the rest of their time doing research on the Serpent Society and fortifying Madame Webb’s mansion even further.
Julia would pretty much be on full-time research duty, since she was the most effective at it.
You’d have to warn Madame Webb of these developments, of course. This was her home, after all, and you didn’t want to overstep your boundaries anymore than you already have. Even if that meant that you had to relocate to another stronghold. Although, you really hoped that it wouldn’t come to that.
—------
Over the next few days, you and Webb oversaw the final phases of the planning stage, making absolutely certain that there wouldn’t be any hiccups when the time to restrain the Silvertongue would come.
The magic team felt as if they had done everything they could in the way of preparing alchemical reagents and drawing ritual circles. The mansion was properly warded against most forms of damage, but could only withstand so much before they would fail. Louise and Rintrah were the only ones who knew what they were doing when it came to warding, and neither of them claimed to specialize in the craft.
And when they weren’t triple checking wards, they were aiding Julia in her Serpent Research. The homebound hacker was confident that she had pulled a great deal of information on the Society’s regular members, as well as detailed records of their dealings with Roxxon Corp.
Normally, you would’ve been more excited about that last part, but Julia’s recent discovery left you feeling troubled.
There were more members of the Society that aren’t listed in any official capacity. They’re far more discreet in the way that they move and operate. Names like “Diamondback”, “Black Racer”, and “Puff Adder” pop up regularly, but no further information could be extracted through normal means.
To everyone's surprise, the best news came when you met with Callisto to pick up something "important". And when said item turned out to be a barb from Death Adder's barbed tail, you rushed it to Rintrah for alchemical testing as soon as possible.
