Lucian looked upon the man for a moment and weighed exactly what was being said. Such a powerful honor by a nobleman was something that Lucian could not really deny. It was frankly beyond what was his immediate thoughts.
Lucian took a drink of the wine that was sitting in his hands. The brew of Bastonne as they were within the Capital of the province. It had a somewhat bitter taste that made it a meager sense to what the masters of Aquitaine were capable of. It was obvious that the fools had disturbed the barrel when they were packaging it as pieces of sediment rolled off his Lucian’s pallet.
“This wine is terrible.” Lucian said as he held the drink in front of him, “In my village we would have respected both the berries and the barrel. Instead of rolling it across the barn to find space my brothers would have lifted it from the base. Instead of pouring the wine into the bottles like fools we would pop open a cork that allowed the wine to flow freely into the bottle.”
Lucian settled the glass of the bitter wine as he had an aftertaste not of dryness, but a bitterness that was associated with wines that were left out in the open for too long.
“I wish to avenge them, my family.” Lucian said to those present, “That is how I arrive here, Lord Remon, for by becoming your Squire and fighting the good fight were all in service of that. I believe it is why I am blessed by Morr. Possibly even the Lady favors me for such an Oath of devotion. But… its not all there is to my life now is it?”
There was a small chuckle from the side as Adok spoke, “Indeed, Umgi, you agreed to help me get back home. You’ve already sworn yourself to a trip to the World’s Edge Mountains at the least.”
Lucian gave a smile at that, “Just my living I have more to live for that just my vengeance. Maybe it is in the eye of the Lady that I become a Grail Knight. Perhaps I am supported in this by Morr for some divine reason only they know.”
“You do not know yet then?” Remon asked as he raised a brow.
“I don’t.” Lucian said simply.
“With the power and authority of becoming a Knight and Nobleman a lot will be expected of you. I do not question that you will become a Knight of the Realm thanks to your honors.” Declared the Count firmly, “When that happens you will either have the Quest or Becoming Landed. Know either of these and decide.”
