but for real though
personally, i feel like it should have been made ALOT more clearer that going directly to dragonstone was far away and a hard journey. if i'd have known we'd be rolling to not get swept up in the currents with our bad stats from all of the inflictions we got from the dive, then i'd have been an adamant supporter of just going over to the cliffs to rest.
the reason why i choose to go to dragonstone, was because i thought the rolling was over, and the other locations was options for other new and strange senario's which would've included more spooky water shit. which while i would find interesting, i just wanted to at this point get back to the main story since i felt this was a satisfying detour and would've been a good point to go back, and show our shit.
as it is currently, i feel like the current dice isn't giving a satisfying conclusion story wise. because by this point within the system, we're basically fucked if we don't want to then also loose all of the gains that we got to begin with. which also just leaves the players sour because then even if the detour was cool, we've essentially gone back to square one, with all of the things which the cool experience lead up to being gone for the forseeable future.
herald, if i was to make a genuine suggestion. id say this from my perspective is the best literary solution.
we wash back up on shore, we've gotten some disfigurement, and we've lost the mermaids blessing. in doing so we've not slighted her, she just doesn't have any way to protect us anymore, since it was essentially a wish she gave us for if we ever were in danger.
we still have the goods, but we've gotten something which might provide a negative modifier, and we've gotten all of the items still to play around with.
that i think, would be the best path forwards. since that'll give meaning to the dice that did happen, but also not make the players angry either because of the system not having treated them well over a prolonged period of time in a critical situation.
that is just my recommendation though. but do remember, the dice system is supposed to help the QM, not antagonize the QM. the dice hold no more power than you give them. and if the system is working counter to the story at hand, it is fully within your options to just change or say no to the dice whenever if it fit's the players and they agree with it.
also, everyone else here thinking of just killing alyn, are you people really gonna give up and make us loose the entire story and experience here we have with alyn just because we aren't able to stay perfectly intact, in a fuckin game of thrones quest???
