As you and Elara venture through the unforgiving mountains on your way to the city of Lumos, you encounter a daunting group of creatures lurking in the shadows.
Towering beasts with ice-blue fur covering their massive bodies, camouflaging them amidst the snowy landscape of the mountaintops, their razor-sharp claws and jagged teeth glistening with an otherworldly frost, ready to rend and tear their prey apart, from their broad shoulders sprouted icy spikes that shimmered with an eerie ethereal glow.
"Frostfangs.", states Elara, matter of factually naming the creatures.
"Why aren't they approaching?", you say, reading your weapon.
"They are cunning predators. They will silently stalk us and wait for the perfect moment to strike, probably when we fall asleep or after we fight something else and get hurt. They hit hard, but are a bit on the slow side. I'd say the most danger they pose to us is in their determination. C'mon, let's get out of here."
The temperature plummets and the wind picks up, howling with an icy fury. You press onwards with unwavering determination, your spirits being tested, but your resolve holding firm. At some point, you're sinking in snow almost chest deep.
Then, as suddenly as the storm began, it ends.
"This storm to be magical in nature. Look ahead!"
You see several Frontfangs ahead. They seems to be dancing around a very large crystal.
"Do you think they are summoning this storm?"
"Seems like it."
"We can't really advance while they keep causing this storm. It is just too much snow!"
"You think they will stop if we ask nicely?"
A couple Frostfangs emerge from the snow around and grab the two of you.
"Let go, monster!"
Their grip is quite strong, but they don't seem intent on harming you, at least for now. They just carry the two of you towards the others.
A seemingly old Frostfang comes forward.
"Hello, humans. I'm Chizak, the Frostfang shaman. What brings you to our territory?"
"We are on our way to the Lumos city, we need a magical item there on our quest to recover the shards from the Eternity Crystal."
"The Eternity Crystal shattered? By the heavens, then that is why there are so many undead in the mountains these days. They must be looking for a shard around this area. We have been summoning storms to stop the undead from reaching our villages and attacking our young."
"Could you stop the ritual for us to pass?"
"I'm afraid not. The hunt has been bad lately, you are going to be fed to the children. Your meat looks tender, they will enjoy it."
The two of you then struggle against the monsters holding you and escape their clutches. You run away through the snow and jump down a cliff, slowing your fall the best you can.
"These Frostfangss are crazy!"
"I was almost convinced they were friendly."
"Oh no, we just fell into a Frostwolf den!"
