Lucian weighed his options, first wondering if he should name the beast after his long lost sister. It was a way of honor the long lost woman. That his village was destroyed and by this steed he shall kill the person who cursed his life from henceforth.
Yet he did not know if such a thing was really honoring her. His labor to Morr and the numerous stones for not only her but the rest of the family being made by his own hands were enough. One cannot let those who already passed ruled their life, and while they fueled the warpath Lucian will go upon they were not the only reason. He was to avenge their lives, his lost life, and simply because killing the beast was the correct thing to do.
So another name needed to be given. One that Lucian knew full well from his services to Morr, “She shall be called Nightshade.”
The beast gave a snort of excitement and slammed the ground with its hoof. That intelligence that Lucian had recognized a moment ago seemed to have flared beyond what he originally thought. It knew that it had received a name from its new owner and it is poised to fulfill its name.
“That is a good name, if a bit simple for the steeds of the Nobility.” Admitted Remon as he handed Lucian the reins, “Go ahead and mount her, after that we will start our journey north with the rest of the convoy.”
Lucian gave a nod before placing a foot upon the stirrup. With a mighty push of his feet the Knight was sent up into the saddle with a little roughness. Before any discomfort could come upon the Knight he quickly realized just how tall he was.
He could see above all the peasants and even the nearby cart. Upon the horse he was truly a Nobleman who was above the peasants. He could not feel the strength of the best, the horse simply staying still, yet he could imagine it.
“Alright, now snap the reins.” Remon said to Lucian.
He did as was told, a small crack heard as Nightshade began walking forward with what might have been, simple obedience. After all she was broken for war, and the beast must have been able to tell that Lucian was no rider of renown. Simply a child who had not ridden a beast before this moment.
Simply put, the beast was ready for war, but suspected that Lucian would not give it the war such a horse was bred to ride within.
