“Luck seems to be somewhat twisted to you it seems.” Declared Count Remon as he finished hearing the tale that Lucian and Adok had both spun for him.
They were back in Bastonne for the battle was already won. With Lucian being so heavily injured he was forced upon the bed by the Count himself. He would not hear a word of what happened because he wished to deliver Lucian to a healer as soon as he could.
Lucian suspected there was other reasons too. The fact that the feud could now be acted upon caused the Duke to seek distance between Lucian and those that would be outright loyal to the Ducal Prince. It did not really matter if the Prince saw the actions as dishonorable, striking a wounded man. What mattered was there was someone who was seeking to curry favor from the future monarch.
Even Peasants, those who Lucian were once apart of, could see the chances of killing a noble to become a retainer of the other something worth risking it all for.
They were within the walls of Castle Bastonne. There the Count had enough wealth to hire a healer for the injured Black Knight and materials for Adok to start reforging the armor. Said Dwarf had not done so yet, for he had been patiently waiting for a chance to speak his mind about the matter.
“The chance at not only becoming a Knight of the Realm but to gain the title of slaying a Warlord of the Orcs is something Gillot will not let go of.” The Count declared first and foremost with a goblet of wine within his hands, “I know what Moriset is thinking, yet…”
“We got caught in clan troubles.” The Dwarf announced with a laugh as he gave his own outlook, “It's a tale as old as the stone under our feet. Even the Ancestor Gods have had troubles like ours when it came to dealing with delinquents.”
Lucian gave a small shrug at the notion, “I cannot say if I should be angered at Moriset or not on the matter. I’ve… kinda been dreading becoming a Knight of the Realm.”
Remon looked concerned until his eyes widened just that little bit, “Becoming a Realm Knight would tie you down unless you took a Questing Oath. Do you fear that?”
Lucian gave a small nod to it, “I have heard that I cannot stay under the same roof for more than a night. That I must always travel the lands in search of my bounty. I do not know if I can do that. If I am not careful I could fail the oath while trying to fulfill other oaths.”
