Before anyone could say or do anything else, however, a group of black, nondescript cars pulled up behind you in a hurry. Almost at the same time, the drivers and passengers of said cars exited their vehicles, revealing themselves to be as bland and nondescript as the cars that they rode in on. Their features were almost identical, with subtle differences being the only way to tell them apart. You suspected that these were Grays in disguise, and the arrival of a shorter, and slightly more distinct figure proved your theory correct. He wore a snazzy, purple suit and a red dress shirt with the first few buttons undone.
“Get the hell off my property, Rollo!” Silas immediately spat.
The stocky man let out a dry laugh that was equal parts derisive and incredulous. “You’ve got some nerve trying to brush me off after what your guys did to my establishment! This has gone way beyond bribes and peace treaties, friend. Someone needs to answer for the damages that have been incurred, and seeing as how you’re the boss, I guess it has to come out of your hide.”
SIlas grit his teeth and directed a hateful glare in your direction.
“I had nothing to do with this. The ones who wronged you and your people did so without my knowledge or consent.” he argued.
Rollo shook his head and let out a malicious laugh. “That’s even worse, pal. If you can’t keep your people under control, then you’re not doing your job. I mean, how does someone manage to plan out an entire heist without your knowledge?”
“This is my problem to handle, Rollo. Once I’ve figured out who was involved, and how they managed to-”
Rollo raised a hand to cut him off. “No. The moment this came to my doorstep, it became a problem for the entire Family. I should’ve known you’d get antsy like this. It wouldn’t be the first time you made a grab for power and got slapped down.”
The disguised alien sneered at him, clearly seeing the opportunities that this little mishap created for him. “This isn’t looking good for you, Silas. I might just have to take your little ‘temple’ here as collateral.”
There was no mistaking the fury in Thorne’s eyes at that point. His hand moved ever so slightly towards the inside of his jacket, and the Grays reacted in the exact same way. Both Family members stared each other down, each daring the other to try something.
Suddenly, both of them appeared to realize that they had an audience, and the malice that had been permeating the air between them seemed to die down a bit.
“Why don’t we take this somewhere else?” Silas suggested.
Rollo nodded. “I agree. Let’s take this inside.”
Silas looked like he was about to disagree, but Rollo gave him a look that told him that would be a very unwise course of action. In both of their minds, Rollo was the victim in this situation. Silas had no right to deny him entry.
