You of course play it cool, “I know of a good blacksmith in Ivern, we could go there as soon as the mission ends. Of course, due to you already using a sword, it would be best to try out another, perhaps a dagger as well as that’s good for beginners. I, of course, can train you, naturally, then we can compare your performance with your Cheat Skill sword. You should be thankful that I, Princess Lorinda de Linda will take time to tutor you.” Very cool.
“Adventurer shopping trip, yay!” Marie states before something clicks in her brain, “Wait you’re a princess?!” Ah.
…
You leave to get changed not long after that debacle, the Stranger staying with Asher for the time being. It’s only when you’re alone do you realize just how stained your clothes are with filth. Oh, how you wish for a bath but a dry clean and a change of clothes is all you’re able to do for now. A bit of perfume goes a long way to mask the scent of death.
It’s only then that you fully realize you killed people, again. A lot of people actually. Yet, when you think on it you find your emotions being much more subdued than they were with the Stranger you killed. Perhaps your mentality has gotten used to it after already killing? You didn’t think that’d happen so soon though. The faces of the bandits flash through your mind but all you feel is nothing. Like their lives, while villainous, were inconsequential. It must be that you’re just used to it now, surely there’s no other reason, right?
Right?
Right.Regardless, the rest of your trip proceeds with little fanfare. Well if you call inspecting dead bodies for motives with Asher and the conductor little fanfare. You don’t find much, no letter or anything hinting at a bigger operation like what happens in many adventure novels. However, no one argues with royalty when she confiscates the weapons of brigands for “safety reasons,” can’t have them in such close proximity to the passengers of course. Dismissing the fact all said passengers had been moved to other cars to keep away from the corpses.
Your haul nets you five matchlock pistols, a few daggers and rather ordinary axes, and a rather nice-looking sword from the leader's hands. A Schiavonesca, a sword with an S-shaped cross guard and a square pommel. It isn’t anything too special compared to some in your gallery but it is a nice blade nonetheless.
