The humans will have to go and check it out, but with teams and wagons to transport the stone it probably could be repurposed. Though it would lengthen the overall construction time, it's quite a feat for the village to have such a fortification when not even larger towns in the region have such defenses.
Incidentally this potential newfound resource abundance could also allow for spare wood and even some stone towards new homes for all the war refugees. Currently they all live at camp in town and barely get by with support from the village, and whatever work they can help towards (much of the work on your wall is from these otherwise idle people) but with an increase in housing they could transition to proper residents and further expand the town by population and contribution.
<span class="mu-s">"Well if it isn't Strogga! Didn't think our little guild was more important than the town wall, but we're glad to have your say-so on what to trade!"</span>
<span class="mu-g">"...trade?"</span>
On one of the lull days where construction of the gatehouse is paused to wait for more lumber from the sawmill, you can pay a visit to the guild of river workers. Most everyone else in town remains avoidant of you, such that you avoid walking the streets or actually going through town. The river workers though after your slaying of the monster toad, hold you in high esteem and always offer welcome and goods from the river; they in fact, who supply you with the most food of town.
The guildmaster himself is a retired old fishermen rather than some fancy noble sort, so he's more than happy to deal with you personally. And to that, comes the matter of trade. Now that the river is safe for travel and transport thanks to your efforts, contact with settlements downriver is possible again. Kasvald is known for the production of some goods but with your abolishment of the war taxation there's a growing surplus which can either continue to be stockpiled, or traded with other settlements.
The concept is rather strange to you, when you've never really traded for anything in your life. Just bullied and taken what you wanted and in a way you wonder if it wouldn't be better to just bully these other settlements for whatever they would offer to trade? But if you care to specify, then the river porters could travel up and down the river to bring goods that Kasvald couldn't normally obtain (or could, but traded for much greater quantity) while you wouldn't have to lift a finger. Normally you would lift a finger, and a fist, but with other things occupying your time and attention maybe trade could be preferable?
