Quoted By:
While everyone was sleeping, you left early, shot your siblings a text, donned your suit and started swinging towards Silvermane’s territory. Along the way, you were able to get a much better look at the city, still in the process of healing from its most recent major attack.
Your brother’s advice, while unsolicited, still managed to take root in the back of your mind. A familiar rush of emotions flashed through your mind along with the memory of the not-quite argument. You were angry for having been criticized after working your ass off to save the city. You were anxious about the various new developments in the lives of your loved ones. But more than anything, you were worried that Rich might’ve had a point when he was talking about making mistakes that couldn’t be undone. You knew all too well that there were some things you couldn’t take back.
So far, Flint, Louise and Iara were the only victims whose conditions you felt personally responsible for. All of whom had their lives changed as a result of them doing favors for you. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time. All because you asked them to.
Each time, the Huntsman made a clean getaway, and each time, he got a new super-powered pal, at the expense of their own happiness. You knew that you could never repay these people for what they lost—for the sacrifices they made, and you were painfully aware of the kindness, patience and understanding that you’ve been taking for granted. So far as you knew, none of them were seeking to enact vengeance upon you, and you were on good to decent terms with all of them right now. It should feel good to swing through life with little to no consequences, but you were beginning to realize that that way of thinking was dangerous for someone like you.
Consequences were the universe’s way of teaching people valuable lessons. Because, like it or not, most sentients learned things the hard way. And if no one ever called you out, criticized your actions, questioned your behavior or punished you for perceived wrongdoings…
Well…you’d be doomed to repeat the same mistakes, over and over again. You wouldn’t learn a damn thing, and the people around you would suffer. So, as much as it chaffed you admit, even internally, your brother might have had a decent point. You had a lot to think about on the way to Silvermane’s new base of operations.

Half an hour later, you arrived at a sleek office building with reflective, one-way glass panels lining its walls. Standing out front were several well-dressed men who immediately stopped what they were doing to scrutinize you as you swung down to meet them. You didn’t miss how some of their hands moved a bit closer to reaching for something on the inside of their suit jackets
“Hey, guys, what’s with the cold reception? I wasn’t expecting anyone to roll out the red carpet, but this is ridiculous. And here I was thinking that I’d try the front door for once.”
