Quoted By:
“Knights of Bretonnia, Warriors of Bastonne, Aquitaine, and Bordeleux, we are upon the eve of war.” Duke Guillon of Bastonne declared as he stood at the head of all the Knights present.
Lucian and Adok were both in the rear of the crowd. Both of them were upon their respective methods of transportation. While the wagon would have made it difficult they might have been able to get closer if Lucian had a higher rank or additional honor to spare. Instead he was in the black, along with several dozen Knight Errants who were prepared to fight in the Errant Lance in the coming day’s battle.
“We have marched for two days and nights, now the Yeoman have told me that across this ridge the Orcs have made camp. The fiends, now stagnant, cannot escape out lance without our notice. Tomorrow we will form up to fight the foe as they too will likely prepare to attack us.” The Duke pointed out with reason, “We are not secretive in our approach and the greenskin already knows our arrival. The fools who lust for war shall also wish to make due tomorrow. Thus we fight against one another in honor!”
There was a small cheer from the crowd. While there was little honor in being a Greenskin the fact was that facing even Greenskin who did not mount upon the battlefield did not sit well with many. By facing the enemy down in combat it would settle many minds of more chivalric knights that they can set raids and torch the camp after victory.
“Prepare yourselves, my Knights! Do not tap the bottle tonight for any failure tomorrow means the lives of thousands we swore to protect shall be wasted. In victory, you shall all be granted honor and the grace of the Lady!”
Upon those words the Knights cheered. To how many would listen to the words of the Duke, Lucian suspected it would not be many, but every sober soldier for tomorrow’s battle was one that could bring great value to the fight.
For Lucian, he needed to prepare as well.
