Lucian held his ground against the creature, but he did not advance towards it. Such a massive frame of a monster was something that the Black Knight knew would be troublesome to challenge. Even with the strength of the Drengi Rune he did not see his chances of coming out unscathed.
Which was the odd part, for Lucian did not feel a burning form the rune. It did not call upon him to kill this creature before him. It was odd for Lucian was trying to become accustomed to the burning fires that were burning within him. For them to become nullified was something that the Peasant Knight simply did not think would happen.
The creature kept its gaze with an eerie staring. The creature occasionally blinked and it breathed just like any other beast that the Peasant had witnessed. Yet it did not move a muscle against him. He wondered if the creature was waiting for him to make the first move.
Taking a second Lucian scanned the grounds around him for signs of life. The murderfest that the reptillian monster has surely might have missed some of the beastmen. Leaving a few of them alive and still breathing. He found none though, with the majority having either their skulls caved in, their organs ripped out, or necks severed by the long snout of the creature.
Lucian’s gaze returned to the monster, finding it the same as before. Lucian felt his confusion mount as it appeared that the monster simply did not act. Like some sort of guardian statue that was made from flesh and blood. After all even beasts would twitch and move instead of their eternal and unstoppable vigilance that the monster was giving.
It was then Lucian began looking around in a wider radius. His eyes having studied the ground now studying the trees that were around them. This creature, this monster, if it was similar to the undead that served the necromancers then it might have a master of some kind?
Lucian caught it then. It was a glimmer of gold that was brilliant too brilliant to have been natural. Without a thought Lucian called out, “You there, my eyes do not play me false for I have seen you!”
As if in response Lucian heard a series of clicks coming from the tree. The shimmer of gold disappeared for only a moment before the leaves of the tree parted and a white figure leaped out from it. Lucian’s eyes were yanked from the moving figure as the giant that was he was staring at began to move, placing the weapon that it was carrying upon its back and holding a large hand to form a stage.
A second later Lucian paid witness to a small lizard standing upon the hand of its fellow. The larger of the two moved a hand up towards the smaller one only for the small one to give a series of clicks and guttural calls that must have been commands. The large one, after putting its hand to the side, became completely immobilized just as it had when Lucian first paid witness to it.
