"Well, have you tried breaking it apart or melting it or something like that? I can't see how it can stay cursed if it doesn't exist anymore, right?" You ask.
"I, uhh...no, I never considered that, to be honest. I don't really know what would happen there. Could be good, could be bad...do you wanna try it?" She responds tentatively, to which you nod. With your encouragement, she pulls the gilded coffer out and opens it up, revealing the precious gems and ancient looking gold pieces hidden within. Azalea's eyes look at it greedily for a moment, but she doesn't act on it.
You pick up one of the coins at first, pinching it between your fingers and trying your very best to snap it in half with the small amount of leverage you can get like that...but ultimately, it doesn't budge an inch, despite seeming to be made of gold! You toss it back into the coffer and pull out one of the gems instead, and try to scratch its surface with both your nail claw and your steel claws, both of them failing to even scuff the surface.
"Huh, these are a lot tougher than I thought they'd be! And they're so small that it's kind of hard to apply more pressure to them..." You comment, a little frustrated with it before you toss the gem back in as well. "I think I have an idea, though! If it's cursed, we can just try to invert the enchantment, right? Make it a really lucky hoard or something." You follow up, with Azalea snapping her fingers.
"I've got it! I'll try to pull a switcharoo on the curse!" She says, as though she came up with the idea herself.
"I just said that..." You say, only to be promptly ignored as Azalea flies over to the chest and closes it to contain the effect. She starts to mutter her magical mumbo-jumbo while waving her hands around the coffer for the next few minutes, before finally snapping her fingers.
"PRESTO!" She exclaims, a bright white light building up on the box before it flashes out powerfully and leaves the coffer glittering clean afterwards instead of the grimy and rusted look it had before. However, moments after she does this, the coffer begins to shake and vibrate intensely. It jumps up a clean three feet before it slams onto the floor again, the lidding popping open once more as what you can only describe as concentrated darkness in a malevolent shape shoots out of it.
This wave of darkness immediately shoots towards the stranger, before she can even react, and seems to flood in through the spaces in her bandages and into her body. She panics a moment later, patting her body as though to check to make sure it's fine, before she looks at her hands. "...Well, that was unexpected!" She says, likely surprised that she's fine after all of that fanfare.
