>>5684082"We shall send at first only our most elite soldiers to the Var tribe to help train their troops. If they need a mass of soldiers, we can help them with our actual army, but only if they help us with the goblins problem."
"This is most wise, great Zhan. We will enact your designs at once.", says Councilor Valenar.
A team of experienced military commanders is assembled over the course of the next few days. They are all from influential families within the tribe, and request to be privy on why you want to send them away from their families.
Councilor Lyra explains that we are going to offer to train the troops of the Var and we are stopping short of sending our our soldiers, at least at first, opting instead to send military commanders to teach their troops basic tactics.
The commanders depart a few days later after preparations are finished. Councilor Lyra goes with them, leading the mission.
Your duties require you to travel from clan to clan to tribe and perform some speeches during the rest of the season, until you meet again with the council in preparation for the winter.
Councilor Valenar:
"Our hay reserves are enough for the Shikows, but a couple clans are complaining their herds are diseased so they will need to perform a large cull. We should ask the other clans to donate some food for them to get through the winter."
Councilor Lyra: *away in a mission*
Councilor Thundar:
"I am worried about a report from one of the clans that sighted goblins riding some kind of flying creatures. This might allow them to perform raids even in the thick of winter when the deep snow would otherwise prevent them from even moving through the frozen plains. I suggest we equip our troops with long range weapons."
Councilor Seraphina:
"Winter is an opportunity to harvest rare herbs that grow in the cold. There are herbs which are very prized by magicians because they increase their powers. We should send out our gatherers out into the frozen fields looking for the distinctive white herbs which grow in the cold."
Councilor Astrid:
"We could train an elite force of marksmen, handpicked from every clan, but the choice on where to deploy them would be the most critical. We could deploy them nearest to where the flying mounts were sighted, but it is possible the goblins will raid anywhere else, such is the mobility advantage of flight."
Councilor Raventhoof:
"The spirits say the goblins are working with the orcs! It is possible they are an advanced force, probing for weaknesses before an actual advance. We must do a display of strength so that they think twice before attacking us!"
Councilor Stormcaller:
"With enough magical potions and the aid of the shamans I could call forth a magical storm to hamper the advance of the goblins through our skies. It would require my undivided attention to sustain the spell and I could not leave the summoning circle for the duration, requiring therefore continued assistance."
