1997, the Lylat System. For a short time, the thriving haven of the stars was placed under the threat of extinction by the vengeful emperor Andross.
The war did not last long, but its effects were devastating and nearly brought the Cornerian Alliance to the brink of defeat. Until an unlikely group was forged from Andross’s own spiritual creation.
Fueled by a desire for justice, a crack team of mercenary pilots known as “Star Fox” became the driving force of a campaign to turn the tide of the war in favor of the C.A. In the end, their ace pilot: Fox McCloud defeated Andross alone, and became known as a hero among the people of the Lylat system.
That day was supposed to be the end of the war, but the blows dealt early on by Andross could still be felt even a year later. His remaining forces laid claim to their positions, forming their own smaller anti-alliance coalitions. Furthermore, some of the planet administrations once captured under Andross saw mass economic growth from his empire’s factories and war efforts, and sought to leverage them upon being liberation for bids at independence and conquest of their own.
The Cornerian Alliance would spend the following year working to reconstruct a fractured Lylat. Once again, the Alliance’s chief of military General Pepper calls on the Star Fox team to aid in one such operation as part of this effort.
In the time passed, what were once ordinary mercenaries weaved a tale of valor and justice in the Lylat System. The question remains: can the legends hold up to reality against the passage of time?
Led by prodigal operator Fox McCloud, managed by veteran Peppy Hare, fighting alongside young genius Slippy Toad and ace flier Falco Lombardi, legends will come to life once again in the year 1998…
